Video based content manufacturers and entertainment groups face a challenging prospect with the Internet. Tempted as they are, and try as they do, it is not plausible, in the long term, for them to pump untreated shot for TV content through broadband channels. Over time Internet users will naturally gravitate towards the principles of the web and expect video content to fulfil the promise of the Internet. They will seek control, access and immersion into visually rich video based content. By placing the user inside broadband video content, TV2 Content effectively fulfils the promise of the Internet.
TV2 content gives the Internet user an illusion of control, within a seamlessly linear video experience. The discipline is akin to those applied to game books. Game books are novels that allow the reader to dictate their own literary experience by hopping from one page to another, from the back of the book to the front, and ultimately altering the course of the story and the characters. Our TV2 content follows the same principle, delivering a sequence of clips to internet users and inviting interactions with each clip. Any interaction will then alter the delivery pattern of future clips and hence the perceived linear experience.
The JD Project produce two classes of TV2 content: conversions and bespoke. A conversion occurs when we take a traditional linear TV format, and we re-shoot the show in a carefully planned and scripted session. The finished TV2 version allows the user to interact with the format's assets and ultimately experience a unique individual experience each time they view. A bespoke involves the shooting and scripting of original, made for TV2, formats. Creatively, TV2 affords our studio the opportunity to rewrite the linear video rule book and take viewers to new levels of participation.
